BOB by Dawn O’Porter launched in October 2014. Starting as just an online store, we have enjoyed huge success at four Pop Up locations so far. The first was on Monmouth Street in the Seven Dials, Covent Garden, in May 2015. The second opened soon after in September 2015 on Newburgh Street, in the Newburgh Quarter, just off Carnaby Street in Central London. We loved the Newburgh Quarter so much we moved just around the corner to Marshall Street in January 2016 and have just closed our latest shop on The Good Ship Benefit Boat, in conjunction with Benefit Cosmetics, on The Embankment (May 2016).
It all started with BOB Vintage. Dawn O’Porter is a well known vintage fanatic. Having hosted her hit TV show, This Old Thing, on Channel 4 - and written the book to go with it, her desire to buy and sell vintage (rather than just wear it) grew. So shortly after wrapping on the show, Dawn started buying classic vintage pieces. As soon as there was enough to call itself a business the website was whipped up and by the end of the summer in 2015, BOB Vintage was up and running.
Realising that some people had an unfortunate fear of pre-loved clothing, and that sizing was often one of the biggest set backs, Dawn decided to launch BOB by Dawn O’Porter. A collection of vintage inspired clothes, made to a very high specification, from gorgeous fabrics in a range of sizes.
The idea was never to emulate what the rest of the fashion industry was doing. It soon became clear that BOB customers are not interested in following trends, they have a unique style and want to dress for themselves. BOB isn’t trying to do anything new, that's the whole point. We take the best of what has already been and breathe new life into it, thus creating timeless looks that will never go out of fashion.
